Iced coffee is nothing new - it has been around for a very long time. But the last decade has seen their popularity really take off.. Big name coffee franchises like Starbucks have popularized cold coffee drinks all over America (and around the world), and these days there are few people who haven’t at least tried them.
This growing interest shows up in the research done by the National Coffee Association (who track the consumption and sale of coffee all over America). In 2004 they reported that iced coffee beverages were consumed by 29% of all Americans (up from 20% in 2003), and even as recent as 2008 the consumption of iced coffee was up significantly from 2007 levels.
